Insider & Institutional Flow

Follow insider and institutional ownership

What it is

Position around insider transactions and institutional ownership flows — concentrated insider buying as a long signal, cluster insider selling (excluding 10b5-1 plans) as a short / warning signal, and 13F-tracked institutional accumulation across quarters.

When it works

Multiple insiders buying on the open market above a meaningful $ threshold (officers and directors, not just one); 13F filings showing rising institutional ownership over consecutive quarters; for shorts, cluster insider selling at valuation extremes with no 10b5-1 exclusion.

Why the setup pays

Price Action = Binary / Grind — the signal is the transaction itself, not the price pattern. Position horizon: insider buys and institutional accumulation typically take quarters to play out, not weeks.

The market it wants

Any regime. Works in any regime. Insider buying in Contraction (after a stock has fallen) historically marks high-quality bottoms; cluster selling at tops is a Slowdown / late-Expansion signal.

What goes wrong

Insider buying is sometimes a false signal (officers buy on the way down); 10b5-1 plans can mask 'real' selling intent; 13F ownership data lags reality by 45 days.

Where it sits in the book

Insider & Institutional Flow belongs to Microstructure & Flow Dynamics, the group whose edge comes from order-flow imbalance / dealer-hedging vectors. That group looks for rapid reflexive squeezes or institutional-driven breakouts, and its risk profile is tactical / reflexive momentum (high velocity).

This is the thesis the engine scans with. It reads the whole universe, scores what matches, and prices the structures against fair value.
