Tactical & Leveraged

Short-horizon, high-octane wrappers

What it is

Trade leveraged / inverse ETFs (TQQQ, SOXL, SPXL) for amplified directional exposure; volatility products (UVXY / VXX long, SVXY short) for vol positioning; and tactical VIX-complex trades — short-DTE statistical mean-reversion on VIX spikes, term-structure entries, event-anchored vol-regime trades. Strictly tactical.

When it works

A strong fast directional move you want amplified (leveraged); a vol view (long vol into an event, short vol to harvest contango carry); or a statistical mean-reversion entry after a VIX spike — held briefly, not buy-and-hold.

Why the setup pays

Short Trade Horizon is non-negotiable. Leveraged and vol ETFs reset daily and decay over time — holding them long bleeds value regardless of direction, so the horizon dimension is the guardrail.

The market it wants

Strong trends / vol events. Leveraged longs in strong risk-on trends; long-vol into rising-VIX / shock windows; short-vol and VIX mean-reversion in calm contango regimes.

What goes wrong

Volatility decay / daily-reset path dependency; long-vol bleeds in calm; short-vol carries severe tail risk — a vol spike can be catastrophic; VIX mean-reversion fails when a shock keeps spiking.

Where it sits in the book

Tactical & Leveraged belongs to Linear Risk Premia & Style Factors, the group whose edge comes from mean or trend of the distribution. That group looks for sustained trend extensions, or clear overextensions for mean-reversion, and its risk profile is dynamic / path-dependent directional.

Run this on the live market

This is the thesis the engine scans with. It reads the whole universe, scores what matches, and prices the structures against fair value.

leveraged ETF for a short-hold Nasdaq momentum swing, a vol-product view into next week's event, and statistical mean-reversion on a VIX spike
