ETF Premium Selling

Sell premium on deep-liquidity majors

What it is

Sell iron condors and credit spreads on the most liquid ETFs (SPY / QQQ / IWM) to harvest theta — tight spreads and deep markets make this the best venue for premium selling.

When it works

Elevated IV rank with a clean window (no FOMC / CPI inside the trade), range-bound price action, and a high POP.

Why the setup pays

Structure = Credit and high IV rank are the qualifiers, same as equity premium selling — but ETF majors give the deepest liquidity and tightest spreads, so more of the premium survives execution. 30–45 DTE is the theta zone.

The market it wants

Calm / low VIX. Calm, low-VIX, range-bound markets — mid-Expansion. Avoid selling into a vol spike.

What goes wrong

A macro print or trend-day blows through a short strike; selling when IV is low; gap risk over data releases. Same rule as single-name premium selling: don't sell naked. Stick to defined-risk condors and credit spreads on the index — the deep liquidity is a gift, but it doesn't save you from an uncovered short call in a vol spike.

Where it sits in the book

ETF Premium Selling belongs to Options Yield & Volatility Arbitrage, the group whose edge comes from peak of the distribution (muted realised variance). That group looks for low-volatility consolidation, range-bound decay, and its risk profile is market-neutral to mildly biased sideways.

Run this on the live market

This is the thesis the engine scans with. It reads the whole universe, scores what matches, and prices the structures against fair value.
